The research and creative activities of the faculty are focused primarily on veterinary medicine, veterinary hygiene and food safety.
The Faculty of Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology carries out creative activities from its own resources, as well as grants from grant agencies (especially the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports;Grant Agencies of the Czech Republic;National Agricultural Research Agencies, Health Research Agencies of the Czech Republic (formerly Internal Grant Agency of the Ministry of Health;Ministry of Interior and the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic) and also from the funds of contract research with contracting organizations, institutions and companies.
The main directions are food chemistry, food microbiology and hygiene and technology of milk and dairy products, meat and meat products, as well as food analysis, evaluation of food structure and quality of food of plant origin. Research is also focused on the adulteration of food, raw materials and dishes of animal and plant origin.
The creative activity of the faculty is also directed to the area of veterinary and food legislation. Furthermore, the simulation of processes burdening the usual conditions of animal husbandry and the effects of these changed conditions on the parameters of health, well-being and performance of animals are monitored, as well as in the area of toxicological effects of some substances, used for the production of raw materials of animal and vegetable origin, their impact on the health and performance of livestock, wildlife and pets.
Scientific laboratories at individual institutes are equipped with modern instrumentation, so they can withstand a full comparison with similar workplaces in our country and abroad. The achieved results are based on this credible, standard and comparable.
